Current project management systems are traditionally based on extracting information from the 3D plant design model to populate numerous, user created, and often unconnected master databases that are resource demanding, far too rigid in their application, and driven mainly by ‘off the shelf’ spread sheet software.

The efficiency of these traditional systems is extremely limited and as the volume of data and interfaces increase their performance reduces dramatically.

Experienced analysis of projects over the last ten years has shown that the lack of control begins in the period between the design and construction phase as the systems are reliant on design deliverables to complete their set up.

As the momentum of construction increases the level of control reduces exponentially and cannot be reversed until the build is well into completion or the volume of data and interfaces become manageable. At this point recovery is nearly impossible and this, in turn, results in costly schedule, and budget, overruns.
